In April 2025, BCR Headquarters in Bucharest hosted three intense training days for Romania’s top-performing economics students .
Students benefited from direct mentorship and workshops delivered by leading professionals:

Alongside these industry leaders, RECE’s Teacher Partners in Excellence — Basarab Gogoneață, Cristian Gheorghe, and Alexandra Dache — provided intensive academic guidance.

On June 13th, 2025, Cambridge School of Bucharest hosted the Summer Economics Enrichment Day, a one-day academic event for a select group of 16 high-achieving students to prepare them for future international competitions.

Led by IB Diploma Programme faculty and RECE’s Teacher Partners in Excellence, the day combined masterclasses in economics, business management, mathematics for economists, and Theory of Knowledge.

The day concluded with the launch of a Summer Challenge, offering students the chance to connect their learning with real-world opportunities, including an internship at the Romanian Tax Institute.

The summer of 2025 brought another season of success for Romanian students trained through RECE programmes. Competing at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO), the World Economics Cup (WEC), and the Australasian Economics Olympiad (AAEO), our teams achieved:

The summer of 2025 was not only about medals and competitions — it was also about ideas, friendships, and discovering what it means to grow as young economists and leaders. Here are the voices of five students who shaped this journey.

In May 2024, RECE organized a series of free training sessions with its Teacher Partners in Excellence. It was a busy summer of preparation for our students aiming at the three major international economics competitions. Six teachers from top international schools in Romania dedicated their time to creating comprehensive resources.

They were joined by esteemed professionals, including Ionuț Stanimir, Chief Marketing Officer at BCR; Ana Maria Crețu, Social Impact Investment Lead at Erste Foundation Vienna; and Ileana Botez, Head of Listing at the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Their combined expertise ensured that our students continued to receive top-notch preparation and support.

These achievements reflect months of preparation supported by our Teacher Partners in Excellence and professional mentors. They reached top 10 among 840 students representing 47 countries.

At the World Economics Cup 2023, two RECE-led teams earned top international recognition, placing 1st and 3rd worldwide in the Top 10 Thinking & Innovation category. 🌍💡

The competition brings together over 1 million students globally, all showcasing their passion for economics.

At the International Economics Olympiad 2023 (with 50+ countries sending their top five students):

👩‍🏫 Romania was also represented on the Jury by Professor Cristian Gheorghe.
